Coffee on Piccadilly

Coffee on Piccadilly

I was approached by Dan after his initial designs for Piccadilly didn't hit the mark. He wanted the branding for the cafe to have some real life and personality.

The goal was to create brand imagery that accompanied the environment and atmosphere of Piccadilly, and was welcoming to newcomers and long-time locals. Not too formal, laid-back and inviting.

Finding the balance between casual and classy

A big challenge with this project was drawing the line between modern classy, and laid-back casual. We offset these two themes throughout the project, to find the right combination. the typography pairing has elements of thin, elegant style, and friendly weight. The illustrations have a thin lines, but also a natural hand-drawn nature.

We also learned the importance of developing brand guidelines to ensure consistent application of the visual identity across all touchpoints.

We are proud of the impact the design had on the success of Piccadilly, and look forward to work with cafe's and other local community brands moving forward.
